the weight of the desk is m*g = 38.6*9.8 = 379N
If the were a vacuum under the desk then the total force = 1.00×10^5 + 379 = 1.01×10^5N
but the air pressure under the desk = that above it so to lift it = 379N
2) P = ρ*g*h + p atm = 1000kg/m^3*9.8m/s^2*1.2206m + 1.013×10^5Pa = 1.13×10^5 Pa
F = P*A = 1.13×10^5*π*(5.486/2)^2 = 2.68×10^6 N
