Can I locate a new light switch behind an open door?
I am installing a new pool table light and a ceiling fan which also has a light. I want to pull power for these from a double gang switch box which is located on the wall just beyond my front entry door. When the door is open and against the wall, the double gang switch box is not covered by the open door. The box is attached to a stud on the right. To the right of that stud, there is apparently a wall brace. So my only option is to go to the left of the existing box but that would be covered by the door when it is open.
There’s no code stopping you from doing that.
