As an installer of tables for 15 years, I would recommend against it.
Yes you can do what you have suggested, and yes you will have to relevel it after it has been moved.
If you pick up the table the wrong way you could disrupt the seams between the slate sections. After doing this, one must take the table apart to relevel the slate at the frame also.
If the legs are held on my metal brackets(especially low cost/import tables) there is a chance of bending the bracket.
In most cases its worth the $75 to $100 for an in room move done by a pro. If there is a complication, they are accountable.
