New felt on a pool table?
We just had new felt installed on a pool table and the installer told us that the balls would roll funny for a while because the felt needs to be groomed by brushing. I know the table is level and the felt is good. Is this normal? Any tricks to help this problem?
The balls may roll a little slow or fast depending on the type of cloth you had installed. SIMONIS 860 has no nap so the balls tend to roll more. If you installed a cloth like CHAMPION, it tends to have more of a nap to it so it might run a little slower. It also depends how tight the installer stretched the cloth before stapling it down. The more stretch, the faster the balls tend to roll- especially on SIMONIS 760 or 860. Hope this helps.
