How do I turn off “..verifing DMI data pool…” screen on startup?
On powering up, somehow I caused this (extra screen) to come up. Use XP os, does anyone know whats up with the configuration that enable/disables this?
Furthur- its a black screen, containing a table of my hardware and a whole shlew of numbers.
Ruled out virus’s, trojan’s, and have up-to-date Norton.

The black screen with the white text is not a part of Windows, it is a part of the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) on your PC.
Every computer has some program code in ROM in order for the computer to start up and do something. Some simple computers don’t have a special program like a BIOS program in them. With the PC, the BIOS looks for and sets up various parts of your computer, before it goes looking for an operating system to load.
The PC BIOS software shows that white-on-black screen to provide hardware information.
In the case of DMI, that is a database which contains information about the computer hardware on your system which was collected by the BIOS. That DMI message you get is harmless, and you can’t disable it.
Some PC computers crashed because of a poor BIOS program when that message was displayed, however, you don’t have to worry about it.
Addition:
Laptops usually don’t have that BIOS screen come up, but instead displays the manufacturer’s name.
Look in your manual to see which key to press after booting to access your BIOS set up screen. Usually it’s something like ESC, F1, F2, or Delete.
There should be an option in there to not display the BIOS hardware status screen.
Your computer manufacturer also might have installed a Windows program that can change some of the BIOS settings too.
