Tip maintenance on pool cue?
Ok so I’ve got a cue and the tip is is flat and what i can only describe as matted. my friends got me a cue shaper (the plastic ones that have the black sandpaper like material inside that you get from walmart or academy) for x-mas. They also got me a cue that has screw on tips so theyre cork and i plan to use that as my break/jump cue. but my cuetec cue has a leather tip. so heres my questions. will that shaper work on a leather tip? and if i do go ahead and replace my tip whats a good soft or medium tip (brand or type)?

throw that tip shaper away and get one like this http://www.pooldawg.com/product/cuetec-3-in-1-bowtie-tip-tool i know its a bit more expensive but it actually works. And tip tools only work on leather tips not the cork ones, these fill in your shaper and you would have to replace it, cheaper and better to use only leather ones. if you replace your tip get someone to do it for you, use either moori or triangle tips, these are brands. and the cue with the screw on tips give it away or sell it to a sucker at the pool hall. go out and buy a cheap players jump break cue. if your playing with a cuetec your probably not real serious yet, but i used a cuetec for a jump break cue for a while so it still has some use. but just remember get real cues with real leather tips, everything else won’t play nearly as well good luck and if you have any questions let me know
